 MISERY to MEXICO

 I was runnin’ from
   missouri down
             to mexico.
 Had some money
    in my pocket ,
  had the pedal

to the floor.

 A crazy lookin’ stranger
  was ‘chasin’ after me.
I had a honey in the back seat,
   said she wanna be free.

Chorus:
Please mister please, don’t you blow this deal.
I’m gettin’ five hundred dollars for sittin’ ‘hind this wheel.

Now the man was her husband, and the honey was his wife.
She said she had to get away, to find the best part of her life.
So baby, hold on tight, I’m bound to get you there.
And it ain’t about your sweet lips, it’s about that taxi fare.

Chorus:
Please baby please, don’t you blow this deal.
I’m gettin’ five hundred dollars for sittin’ ‘hind this wheel.

Now she told me how she met him at a high school dance.
They threw caution to the wind and gambled on romance.

Twenty years later, her heart is still in school.
But she’s runnin’  down that road with this taxi drivin’ fool.

Chorus:
  she says....Please mister please,
don’t you blow this deal. I’ll give you five

hundred dollars for sittin’  ‘hind that wheel.

Then I looked in the mirror girl had a tear in her eye.
As her man hit  the  brakes and waved bye-bye.
She looked at me and said "is that all you got?"
I  looked down at  the gauge and it was running hot.

Chorus:
Please caddy please, don’t you blow this deal.
I’m gettin’ five hundred dollars for sittin’ ‘hind your wheel.

Saw an old sign, said  "10 miles to mexico."
And started thinkin’ about how I’d hate to see her go.
But we made a deal and I plan to  see it through.
Maybe the next ride I give, I’ll give to you

Chorus:
Please, mister  please, don’t  you blow this deal.
I’m gettin’ five hundred dollars for sittin’ ‘hind that wheel.
