  MAN OF STEEL

 No words of wisdom,
Could save the man of steel.
‘Twas easier to fly, it seems,
Than it was for him to feel.

 His x-ray vision could burn
 through solid stone.
But he couldn’t see the tears
 that fell, when his baby
          ran from home.

chorus:
"Please, Daddy
save me from these things
that I don’t know."
She sang it sweet and low.
But the music wouldn’t flow.

"Please, won’t you understand,
My world is filled with gloom.
It’s just not safe in this
Pink and yellow room."

Mommy couldn’t understand,
how he could help this cruel world.
But he couldn’t find the strength
it took to save his little girl.

And there he sat alone,
in his cave of stone and ice.
Imprisoned by his vanity,
for ego is his vice.

chorus:
"Please, Daddy
save me from these things
that I don’t know."
She sang it sweet and low.
But the music wouldn’t flow.

"Please, won’t you understand,
My world is filled with gloom.
It’s just not safe in this
Pink and yellow room."

She sees a star,
as it falls to Earth from space.
A glowing warm green light
rises from it’s resting place.

She chips a piece too small,
for other men to see.
And she drops it in a cup
of her daddy’s morning tea.

And now he falls asleep
And forgets the world’s screams.
He’s with his family now
And we’ll protect him while he dreams.

And now he can’t escape,
By flying way up high.
We’ll lie upon the summer grass,
And watch the clouds go by.

 "Good-bye man of steel......"
